Frequently asked Questions:
What is chip timing?
Chip timing is computer timing.  You are given a D-tag timing chip to wear on your shoe. Start mats and finish mats are used at each race. When your shoe crosses over the mats, your time starts and ends automatically.  Generally, chip timing is much quicker and more efficient than manual timing.

How do I use the chip?
D-tag timing chips are issued before each race and must be attached to your shoelaces.  THE CHIP WILL NOT REGISTER ON THE TIMING MATS IF IT IS WORN ANYWHERE ABOVE THE KNEE!!!

When will I receive the chip?
The chips are given to you when you register.  Please remember to bring the Chip & the Bib to the race!!!

Do I have to wear my Bib Number if I wear the chip?
Yes, you still have to wear the Bib Number on your Front side.  Bib numbers are recorded as you come across the finish line as part of a manual backup system that the timing company uses.

What do I do with the chip after the race?
The chips are disposable.  You may toss it or you may keep it as a souvenir.

Pace-Start Areas

What are Pace-Start Areas?
Pace start and Pace-Start Areas is lining up at the Start line according to your minute-per-mile pace.  The starting area will be designated by a number that corresponds to the minute-per-mile pace that you anticipate in running, i.e. a 5-minute mile, 8-minute mile, etc.  The faster paces will be closer to the front and the slower paces towards the back.  This keeps the slower runners and the walkers further back in the pack, so that we have a safer, smoother start and no one gets run over!  With start mats at each race, your time doesn’t start until you cross the starting mat so there’s no rush to get to the start line and onto the course!
